Anthony Gordon was on the score sheet last night against Arsenal as Newcastle United put one foot into the Carabao Cup final with a 2-0 win at the Emirates.

While the pacey winger was a Newcastle player the last time the Toon Army took over Wembley, the former Everton man was cup-tied for the final and had to watch from the stands along with fellow cup-tied player, Martin Dubravka who made a couple of appearances for Manchester United in the competition during his ill-fated loan spell.

It looks as though Martin Dubravka will miss out on Wembley again as he seemed to be waving his final goodbyes to the fans after last night's win with a move to Al-Shabab expected to be completed soon.

However, Anthony Gordon is hoping that he will get to step onto the Wembley turf as a Newcastle player this time around.

Anthony Gordon regrets playing for Everton in the League Cup before his Newcastle switch

Speaking to NUFC TV after the game last night, Gordon spoke about turning out for Everton in the League Cup just before his move to Newcastle and instantly regretting it.

“I was devastated last time,. I played in a stupid cup game just before I came [to Newcastle].

“I had a broken hand, I just remember thinking 'why did I play in that game'? I travelled down [to Wembley], unfortunately, we lost but what an experience!

“Hopefully I get to be part of it this time but that's up to us, we've got a good advantage but we're facing a top team so it could change really quickly. It's totally in our hands now.”

Anthony Gordon spoke about the new belief amongst the team

Gordon also spoke about the change in the team, the fact that now they go to places like Arsenal and believe they can win and that he felt in the dressing room before kick-off that they'd win on Tuesday night.

“If we want to be that top club, that expectation has to be to come here and win games and we've done that. We can’t get ahead of ourselves at all, these are one of the best teams in Europe so we’ve got to stay humble.”

We wish we could be as confident as Gordon; our nerves were shot all day.

Newcastle are 90 minutes away from Wembley and in our current form, we fear nobody. Although, remind us of this before kick-off next month.
