Newcastle United are said to be very keen on bringing Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen to Tyneside this summer after failing to act last year.
The Magpies had Dean Huijsen on their list of potential targets last summer but instead chose to focus their efforts on Premier League-proven Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Bournemouth ultimately took a punt on the Dutch-born Spanish international playing for Roma on loan from Juventus (did you get all that?).
The Cherries forked out an initial £12.8 million for the 19-year-old who went on to have an impressive first campaign in English football, making Newcastle regret their decision to pass up the chance to sign him when he was cheap.
Now Newcastle may have to fork out £50 million to land the teenage sensation with his release clause becoming active this summer.
However, there will be many other clubs also keen on Huijsen making things a bit tricky for Newcastle especially as he has already hinted about a dream move to Real Madrid, so if the Spanish giants come in for him, it's probably game over for everyone else.
It is reported that Real Madrid have yet to formulate their attack plan for the summer giving Newcastle, and indeed any other interested parties, a chance to steal a march.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with ESPN, Huijsen was asked who was the hardest striker to face off against and he named Alexander Isak among his top three, which is hardly surprising.
“Haaland is a striker you always have to watch out for. He’s always looking to find the place to score and you have to be aware of him. You are always looking at him and trying to mark him.
“Then, I would say Salah because he’s always in the right place. He’s always where he needs to be to score or assist, he’s just always in the right spot.
“And Isak because I think he’s a very complete striker. Tall, fast and strong. He can dribble, shoot and pass. I think he’s a very complete striker.”
One way to avoid going up against Isak in the future would be for you to join Newcastle in the summer, just saying, Dean. Think about it.
