Newcastle fans can breathe a sigh of relief after yesterday's contract news surrounding Bruno Guimaraes has been rubbished by several outlets.
Yesterday there was a sphincter-tightening report released by Spanish outlet SPORT claiming that there was a secret clause inserted into Bruno Guimaraes' new Newcastle contract that would allow Barcelona to sign the Brazilian midfielder for a fee of around £60million - a good £40million less than his main release clause.
The news was of course greeted with scepticism by the Toon Army, but still became a huge topic of debate online.
It doesn't make sense that there would be two release clauses inserted into his deal, but what made even less sense was the choice of club.
Yes, Bruno Guimaraes has admitted he'd love to play in Spain, but the club most often linked to him is Real Madrid, there has never been a mention of Barcelona as The Chronicle reported today,
Their report confirms the existence of the £100million clause that we all knew about but, without outright saying it doesn't exist, heavily suggests that the Barcelona clause is a fabrication by the Spanish press.
I still say, that no matter the reality, even if this fabled Barca clause is real, the main thing is the £40million signing from Lyon has just signed a new deal at Newcastle which heavily suggests he has no designs on moving in the near future. That's what's important.
