Newcastle United are desperate to add a right winger to their squad sooner rather than later and Magpies forward Callum Wilson has been spotted playing head tennis with a player on the club's radar.

Callum Wilson has stepped up his rehabilitation after picking up a back injury in the off-season. He has yet to feature in a single match-day squad for Newcastle this season, and despite being 'close' to a return for about two months, every time we expected to see him back in action, Eddie Howe has pushed back his return date.

We were expecting to see Wilson's name in the match-day squad going into the game against Nottingham Forest, but last week Eddie Howe announced that they were going to give him until after the international break.

Hopefully all of this rehab pays off for Wilson and he can actually see out the rest of the season when he does return. We're not holding our breath though.

Agent Callum Wilson knows what to do now

One possible way Wilson could contribute to Newcastle's cause right now is to tap up his new gym buddy.

After picking up an ACL injury, FC Copenhagen's right-wing wonderkid, Roony Bardghji is in the same facility as Callum Wilson working on his fitness, and Bardghji has posted a reel on Instagram with a video of him playing a sit-down game of head tennis with Wilson.

Hopefully Agent Wilson has been on the case telling the Kuwait-born Sweden international all about how great it is at Newcastle and how much patience they have with players who have injury issues - because if anyone can vouch for that, it's Wilson.

Roony Bardghji is nearing a return to action having been out since May

Newcastle had been linked with Rooney Bardghji in the at the end of last season, but with the winger tearing his ACL in May, any thought of a transfer in the summer was squashed.

It now seems as though he's edging closer to a return and no doubt top clubs will be keeping an eye on his progress with a view to a summer bid.

We'd imagine Newcastle will still be keen on the 18-year-old and if Wilson has done his job, we could have a leg-up in negotiations should we come to making a bid for the NXGN List member.
