The annual NXGN Top 50 Wonderkids in World Football is an annual list that basically acts as a menu for thirsty clubs with an eye on the future and money to burn.

With the media so happy to throw around the 'richest club in the world' moniker when it comes to Newcastle it's usually used to justify an outlandish transfer story, which is why we find ourselves linked with pretty much every player with a good reputation.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look down the NXGN's list of 50 Wonderkids for 2024, which highlights the best players in world football born after 1st January 2005 and picked up on those that have been linked with moves to Newcastle United since the takeover.

A couple of these were linked last season and ultimately moved on to other clubs, but they're young, they'll see the error of their ways someday.

Who from the NXGN list has been linked to Newcastle?

50. Jobe Bellingham (Sunderland)

Sunderland's Jobe Bellingham kicks off the list and the younger brother of superstar and former NXGN top spot holder, Jude Bellingham has been linked to Newcastle several times despite only recently joining the Mackems. We're not sure how much truth was in the rumours, but imagine the fume. Go on. Imagine it.

43. Archie Gray (Leeds United)

In February, it was claimed by HITC that Newcastle were looking to move for 'phenomenal' Leeds talent, usually a midfielder, but has been deployed at right-back this season. He recently signed a long-term deal at Leeds but Newcastle and other top Premier League sides are keeping an eye on him.

24. Assan Ouedraogo (Schalke)

90mins claimed back in October that Newcastle, along with Manchester City and several other Premier League sides, were interested in Assan Ouedraogo who has a similar story to that of our very own Lewis Miley, becoming Schalke's youngest player and then youngest goal scorer. Also a midfielder, the 17-year-old is one to keep an eye on this summer.

22. Desire Doue (Rennes)

Newcastle were linked with a move for highly-rated midfielder Desire Doue throughout January and were said to be going toe-to-toe with Borussia Dortmund to sign the 18-year-old. Neither club ended up taking the youngster and he remained at Rennes. Perhaps the Magpies will revisit the idea in the summer.

19. Lewis Miley (Newcastle United)

Yeah we know he's already ours, we just like pointing out that one of our own is on the NXGN Wonderkids list.

13. Roony Bardghji (FC Copenhagen)

We recently covered a story about Bardghji being warned against joining a big club like Newcastle in the summer. The Swedish wonderkid is attracting a lot of attention and is almost certain to leave FC Copenhagen this summer, but how big of a leap will his career take? Newcastle are keen on 18-year-old who scored a winning Champions League goal against Manchester United in November. That makes him ok in our book.

11. Antonio Nusa (Club Brugge)

Brentford were close to sealing deal for Nusa in January and reports were that Newcastle were poised to hijack the deal. Nusa has remained at Club Brugge and could be the subject of a summer bid from the Magpies. The 18-year-old has been dubbed 'The Norwegian Neymar'. Canny.

6. Vitor Roque (Barcelona)

Newcastle reportedly tried to beat Barcelona to the punch last season before the Catalan giants swooped to take Roque from Athletico Paranaense for £35million. Oh well. What might have been, eh?

5. Arda Guler (Real Madrid)

Another one that Newcastle tried and failed to land last season before the player opted to go to Spain. Turkish sensation Arda Guler had many Newcastle fans excited as reports ramped up suggesting that Newcastle were frontrunners for the youngster's signature, but alas, he opted to go to Real Madrid. The Turkish Messi's first season in Madrid has been hampered by injuries but he's still highly regarded as a future star.

Get that chequebook out, Mandy!

Those are the players that immediately leapt off the page as players that have been linked with Newcastle, there are probably a few more on the list who maybe snuck under the radar. I mean, we are linked with pretty much everybody these days.

There are still a few of these players who could be available this summer and with Newcastle expected to be busy in the transfer market we wouldn't be surprised to see some of these names pop up again, and who knows, maybe a few of the others on the list.
