The rumour mill was at full tilt last night that Joelinton and Newcastle United had ended their standoff and the Brazilian was set to sign a new deal.
Talks broke down between the club and Joelinton's representatives around the time the £40million star picked up his injury and there were very real fears that he could have played his last game for the club with the likelihood that if no new deal was struck he'd be sold in the summer.
Thankfully it now sounds like that scenario will be avoided after Amanda Staveley stepped in to negotiate Joelinton's new deal according to The Telegraph.
This will come as music to Bruno Guimaraes' ears after he admitted to his mate Lucas Paqueta that he really hopes Joelinton signs a new deal while they were chatting over a livestream,
"I hope Joe will sign. I hope so."
Bruno then went on to declare that both his kid are Geordies before referencing a beloved crowd chant.
Joelinton meanwhile is set to become one of the club's top earners if the deal is reached, although he's not expected to be on par with top earner Bruno Guimaraes which was apparently his original demand.
We've said it before and we'll continue to say it, nobody at our club deserves a pay rise more than Joelinton. His transformation under Eddie Howe couldn't even be made into a movie because nobody would believe it.
Fingers crossed for some good news on this front sooner rather than later so we have one less thing to worry about going into the summer.
