Bruno Guimaraes aims a dig at Danny Murphy as end-of-season stat proves him to be completely wrong

Over the years we've all learned to take anything Danny Murphy says with a pinch of salt but in February he actually compared himself to Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

That one was hard to ignore, for so many reasons, but the main gist of it - after the laughable comparison - was that Danny Murphy claimed that Bruno Guimaraes wasn't athletic enough to become one of the world's best players.

If Murphy had said "fast enough" then maybe, just maybe we could concede that he had a basis for a point as Bruno isn't blessed with pace, however, he more than makes up for that with his footballing brain and his effort.

Bruno, even on his bad days, never stops running, never stops grafting and is always looking to be the one to get Newcastle moving.

Bruno Guimaraes covered 423km this season in the Premier League alone

That could sound like a bold claim but Sky Sports backed it up with cold hard stats in their table of Season Highs, showing all the table toppers from the biggest stats over the season.

Newcastle's one representative on that table was Bruno Guimaraes who topped the Premier League for distance covered over the season. A whopping 423km.

So of course, Bruno snapped a photo of this stat and captioned it "he isn't athletic👍😅 " and posted it to his social media.

We saw two assist and a goal from Bruno at Brentford

We really hope someone has fed this one back to Danny Murphy so he can hobble back to his cave, defeated.

Bruno ended the season in style at Brentford yesterday, bagging a goal and providing two assists and even donning his magic hat before posting on social media that he's looking forward to next season.

Bruno is a Geordie!
