We're never quite sure what the actual status of Barcelona is, are they mega rich or completely broke? We always hear how they can't afford to sign new players and they go and do it anyway, so now that they have a Newcastle United player in their sights we're not sure how to feel.
It's obviously flattering when Barcelona eyeball one of your players. They rarely deal in garbage. They're also a hard club for players to turn down and that's a worry.
There are players who have signed for Barcelona in recent years who haven't even been able to be registered due to their financial woes, yet they still went there knowing this was a possibility.
The Catalan club now have some big players in their sights so they must be feeling confident about their money issues.
According to The Sun, Barcelona are set to launch a raid on Manchester City for Erling Haaland but should that fail they have two more Premier League strikers in mind, one of which is Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.
The other is Liverpool's Darwin Nunez, and we're sure even Liverpool fans will be hoping that's who they end up with.
It's believed the Barca chiefs want a huge statement signing to mark the reopening of the Nou Camp and feel any one of those three would fit the bill.
We can't see Erling Haaland leaving Manchester City yet so we can probably rule that one out.
The Sun claims Isak almost joined Barcelona in the summer which is news to us. There was a reported interest, sure, but that was about as far as that went. Darwin Nunez has started to look more like the player Liverpool thought he would be.
The fact that this story came from The Sun means we aren't worried at all, and when they add in lines suggesting that Isak almost moved to Barcelona, then we know exactly where to file this report, in that special filing spot with the flush handle.
Despite the reports claiming that talks between Isak and Newcastle have stalled, there's still nothing to suggest that he is unsettled, and while Barcelona is a huge club, we just don't see Isak walking away from the Newcastle project just yet - that won't last forever, however, so we need to pick things up before he does start looking elsewhere.
