Anthony Gordon took to Instagram to give his 'Man Of The Match' verdict after Newcastle's impressive win over Crystal Palace.
Newcastle United spent the night in the Champions League places after a resounding 4-0 victory at St. James' Park, but will drop out again today after Aston Villa host West Ham. Every outcome of that game will see one of those teams leap ahead of the Magpies... for now.
There were many impressive performances across the pitch yesterday with three players being handed a 10/10 by us in our post-match ratings, but there was still room for one man to stand out above the rest.
Making his first Premier League start of the season, Jacob Murphy gave Miguel Almiron and Eddie Howe plenty to think about with his performance.
The £12 million signing from Norwich helped himself to a goal and provided two assists in a flawless display.
His teammate Anthony Gordon clearly agreed, posting in the comments on Murphy's Instagram: "MOTM".
Murphy was called up to replace Miggy after the Paraguayan had just returned from international duty, but after that game, Howe now faces a difficult call of whether Miggy gets his place back.
The fact that we have two players vying for that right-side attacking position who were both here pre-takeover is a testament to Eddie Howe more than anything. Murphy and Almiron would have been high on many fans' list of players to replace when the takeover was signed, now we'd be devastated if an offer came in.
The future is ridiculously exciting.
