If you love yourself some football-related numbers then WhoScored? is the site for you as they keep track of every minute detail of the game.

We often like to look to see if our lads are making it into their Team of the Week/Month/Round/Season as they use their detailed ratings to create the averages and pick the highest-rated player for each position rather than an arbitrary metric of how well someone is deemed to have done that week.

Their X account is a great one to follow, too, as they will often throw out random lists such as 'Most accurate through balls in Europe's top five leagues this season'.

WhoScored? produced that list to X on Monday and saw Newcastle's very own Bruno Guimaraes top the list with 10 accurate through balls. What a player.

Alexander Isak is the highest performing Premier League striker so far this season

On Tuesday they turned their attention to the Premier League's strikers, ranking the forwards with the highest average rating so far this season.

Once again, the list was topped by a Newcastle United player, Alexander Isak.

Isak has been on fire this season, breaking goal-scoring records for fun, but it's not just his ability to find the back of the net that has his ratings so consistently high, his off-the-ball work is absolutely vital to creating the space for our other forwards to run into.

Let the good times roll

Isak's average rating this season is an impressive 7.55 which sees him ahead of Erling Haaland with 7.45 before a steep drop off to Nicolas Jackson on 7.11.

Newcastle players topping these types of lists is such a massive indicator of how well we are performing, especially after such a slow start to the campaign.

It's easy to get carried away when things are going well, but now we've put that Bournemouth blip behind us, there's a good feeling around the region again.
