All the January Premier League fixtures have now been played which means it is time to look at who made it into the WhoScored? Team of the Month.

Unsurprisingly, Newcastle United have been represented in the WhoScored? Team of the Month for January after suffering just one, albeit hefty, defeat.

Newcastle brought the entertainment and the goals in January, following on from their excellent form in December.

The Magpies saw off Tottenham, Wolves and Southampton in the Premier League in January, as well as wins over Arsenal and Bromley in the cups, although those games aren't included in the scoring.

Martin Dubravka and Alexander Isak make it into WhoScored?'s Team of the Month for January

WhoScored? uses their average player ratings over the month to select the top-rated player in each position to go into their Team of the Month and Newcastle ended up with two players who made the cut. One is blindingly obvious, while the other was a bit of a shock.

"Martin Dubravka (Newcastle) - 7.15

"Since stepping into the side following Nick Pope’s injury back in December, Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has kept five clean sheets in eight league matches, and helped the Magpies to three wins from four in January."
"Alexander Isak (Newcastle) - 8.11

"Haaland’s impressive haul is overshadowed only slightly by Newcastle frontman Alexander Isak, whose remarkable scoring form in December continued into January, with a goal against Tottenham and braces against both Wolves and Southampton. The Sweden international has scored 13 goals in his last 10 league outings and now sits just two goals behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot."

We obviously expected Alexander Isak to make the cut after his superb goal-scoring exploits, but we'd have maybe thought Sandro Tonali would make the grade after some outstanding performances.

However, we're absolutely chuffed to see Martin Dubravka beating out the competition to take the Number 1 place in the team.

Eddie Howe had to convince Dubravka to stay at the club this month as the Slovakian deputised for the injured Nick Pope, and despite Pope's return from injury, Dubravka kept his place in the side against Southampton.
