Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has named his Premier League Team of the Week which includes one Magpies star.
It really is amazing what a couple of goals can do to hide a poor performance.
Newcastle were far from at their best on Saturday as they struggled to a 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers with disappointing performances all over the pitch.
In our player ratings, we gave our Player of the Match to Callum Wilson on the strength of him scoring two goals. We also said that when you look at his stats, he had a really below-par game overall.
He completed just three passes in the contest, won just 3/10 duels, and gave away possession 16 times.
As we say though, a couple of goals can mask that, especially for a striker whose job is primarily to stick the ball in the onion bag.
Shearer, as a striker, clearly thinks that as long as a forward is finding the net, the rest of their game doesn't matter as he picked Callum Wilson in his Team of the Week which he shared via X.
It makes sense, as the former Newcastle striker recently said on The Rest Is Football podcast that if it was a choice between playing rubbish and scoring and playing brilliantly and drawing a blank he'd take the former every time.
That thinking must have gone into his decision to pick Wilson as beyond the brace, it wasn't his best performance by a long shot.
