Newcastle United signed 19-year-old Yankuba Minteh this summer and immediately loaned the winger out to Eredivisie Champions Feyenoord.

Dan Ashworth moved early to ensure Newcastle snared Yankuba Minteh from OB Odense before any other clubs could get their paws on him.

Seen as one for the future, Newcastle immediately loaned Minteh to Dutch Eredivisie champions Feyenoord. In fact, the deal moved so quickly that Minteh actually signed his Newcastle contract in Rotterdam and to this day still hasn't visited Newcastle.

That apparently hasn't stopped Minteh from feeling like a Newcastle player with his agent, Bakary Bojang (great name) telling The Chronicle that Newcastle are in constant touch with Minteh to make sure everything is going well.

"Newcastle are always in Holland watching the games. I'm actually surprised that they are there that much.

They are always in touch with Yankuba and sometimes they call me as well so I'm really pleased with how things are going because they are showing a lot of interest in him as a player and trying to look after him so he can develop further. They are telling him how the manager at Newcastle wants to play and how things are done there so that he can already prepare.

We don't know if he's going to come back this summer - that's the plan - but it's up to the manager at the end of the day. Right now, everything is going well."

Minteh has been impressing for Feyenoord with fans taking an instant shine to him. In his eight Eredivisie appearances, he has amassed three goals and an assist.

Newcastle fans are already excited about the prospect of having him in the first-team next season when his Feyenoord loan comes to an end, whereas Feyenoord fans are hoping they will be able to keep hold of him.

Minteh looks like the perfect player to challenge Miguel Almiron for that right-wing spot which he currently has a stranglehold on. Jacob Murphy, for all the good he did last season still seems to be far behind Almiron in Eddie Howe's plans for the right side of the attack, but Minteh could possibly push Almiron more.
