Unless Newcastle United actually win a trophy, this season feels like it's going to be remembered for all the injuries we picked up.
We have been waiting on news on Dan Burn's injury since the 6'7" defender landed awkwardly on his back against Arsenal and eventually had to be substituted.
Burn managed to play for ten minutes or so after the incident but looked visibly uncomfortable and didn't return to the field for the second half.
That saw Tino Livramento play the second half at right back with Kieran Trippier moved to the left, a position he's now played 14 times for England.
Speaking to the media today ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, Eddie Howe has revealed that we may not see Dan Burn for a while (via The Chronicle).
"Dan Burn will be out for some time I think. Long-term problem, a couple of months is a speculative number. He landed on his spine. A huge blow."
Burn has been a massive part of Newcastle's success under Eddie Howe and has been ever dependable since his £13million move from Brighton in Howe's first transfer window.
By far the best player in the Premier League with just nine fingers, Burn will be a huge miss for Newcastle but it does open the door for Tino Livramento and even Lewis Hall, especially with Matt Targett set to be out for as long as Burn with the hamstring injury he picked up against Manchester United.
As Howe went on to say in the presser, losing Burn means we don't just lose a left-back, but a centre-back too, which also means Paul Dummett may get more game time this season than he was expecting.
We wonder when this little injury curse is set to end.
