Newcastle United transfer activity really kicked into life at around 11pm on Saturday night.

News that the club had agreed to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest broke late on Saturday night but it wasn't the only outbound transfer rumour that surfaced late on.

Journalist Ben Jacobs posted on X that Callum Wilson to Saudi Arabia was one to keep an eye on.

There has been a feeling for a while that Callum Wilson's time at Newcastle was coming to an end with West Ham keen on the England striker.

Three Saudi Pro League clubs want Callum Wilson

Doubling down on what he'd previously said, Jacobs hinted that 'dealmakers' were working on trying to find a club in Saudi Arabia for the £20million former Bournemouth man to move to.

There are reportedly three Saudi clubs interested in Wilson, but whether he would be willing to move to Saudi is a whole other issue.

From an entirely selfish point of view, we'd much prefer that Wilson moved to Saudi than the Hammers as then we at least don't have to see him banging in goals in the Premier League for a rival club.

Wilson can't be relied on to be fit

There's no doubt that wherever Wilson goes, he will provide his new club with goals, it's just a case of how many games he'll play in order to do that that's the issue with his injury problems a huge concern.

Those injury issues combined with his age (32) are two big reasons why we aren't too cut up about Wilson leaving this summer.

We'll never forget how good he's been for us, his strike rate for the club reflects that with his 48 goals and 11 assists in 108 appearances, but we need someone who we know will be available when needed, and unfortunately, you just never know with him.
