Newcastle United yesterday agreed a £33million deal with Brighton and Hove Albion to sell Yankuba Minteh just over a year after he joined the club.

Minteh never even trained with Newcastle, let alone played for them in the year he spent on their books having agreed a season-long loan with Dutch side Feyenoord immediately after signing for Eddie Howe's side.

After an impressive season in the Eredivisie, Newcastle fans were excited to get their first proper look at Minteh, but thanks to the club being over their three-year allowable loss limit for PSR, Minteh had to be sacrificed in order to comply with the most controversial rule in football right now.

However, shortly after it broke that the deal had been agreed, journalists started to claim that there was still a way to go before Newcastle were completely in the clear and that Sunday could still see players being sold to ensure compliance.

Elliot Anderson looks to be heading to Nottingham Forest

Late last night, The Athletic's David Ornstein shared who that other sacrificial lamb will be and it's safe to say that Newcastle fans really aren't happy about this one.

It now looks as though the Geordie Maradona himself, Elliot Anderson is set to leave the club on a permanent basis and join Nottingham Forest.

No fee has been mentioned as yet, but unless it's at least £15million we can see this one being met with universal backlash.

While less than ideal it's a good move by the club

The 21-year-old academy product is very popular on Tyneside and there's always been an expectation that he'd be a huge hit at the club, but the reality is, he's never really popped at the highest level.

Anderson had an impressive loan spell at Bristol Rovers where he got his Geordie Maradona moniker, and just as he was starting to carve out his own spot in Eddie Howe's first-team he was hit with a back injury that kept him out of action for months.

When he returned, Anderson looked sharp and his positive runs were always a joy to watch, but the reality is that in 44 Premier League outings Anderson has yet to find the net and has only provided four assists.

We don't want to see him go, obviously, but if PSR must be appeased, then an academy graduate represents pure profit and if the deal can get done today, which there's no reason why it won't, then we've achieved the goal and we can start looking to rebuild from tomorrow with the Minteh and Anderson money adding to whatever the budget was already.
