Yoane Wissa passes medical ahead of £55m move to Newcastle United
After a very frantic morning, things have certainly quietened down a bit around Newcastle United this afternoon as it all becomes about admin at this point in the window.
There are moves being worked on, both incoming and outgoing, but other than maybe a couple of loan moves for some U21 players like Trevan Sanusi and Harrison Ashby, there's not likely to be any more action for the first team in terms of incomings and outgoings beyond what we already know about.
Yoane Wissa was pictured arriving for his medical by Sky Sports earlier today, and it has since been reported that that part of the process is now complete.
The deal for Wissa is believed to be £55 million, with half to be paid now and half next year, and it will also include a 25% sell-on clause for Brentford.
Yoane Wissa will take the No. 9 shirt at Newcastle
Newcastle aren't likely to receive any kind of impressive fee if/when they look to move Wissa on, especially nothing like what they've paid for him, so Brentford working in a 25% sell-on fee is a stroke of genius for them; they get paid again if he's moved on for a fee.
It's more likely he'll just run down his contract and leave on a free, though, unless he's an absolute disaster.
Wissa will take the vacant number 9 shirt after Nick Woltemade chose the number 27 to honour his mother - it's her birthday as revealed in a quick-fire interview with the club.
Yoane Wissa bagged 19 Premier League goals for Brentford last season
There is no getting away from the fact that Brentford have absolutely had Newcastle's pants down with this deal, but the way our summer has gone, it was inevitable that we were going to have to overpay to get someone in.
At least with Wissa, it's someone who knows the Premier League well and scored 19 league goals last season, none of which were penalties by the way.
He's also extremely versatile and can play every role across the front line. He was outstanding for Brentford, and with our midfield trio behind him and the Anthonys either side, there's no telling what our new Number 9 will do for us this season.
