Newcastle United are the 2025 EFL Cup Champions - we're sure you're already aware of this fact but we're just not bored of writing it.

The Magpies overcame near-impossible odds to lift their first domestic trophy in 70 years on Sunday after having to beat every team currently sitting in the Premier League's top four spots to finally scoop silverware for what will be for a huge proportion of fans, the first time in their lifetime.

Leading up to the final, Newcastle's form was wavering, we lost Anthony Gordon to a three-game suspension and then we lost Lewis Hall and Sven Botman to injury. It was all stacking up against us, but the spirit, the passion and more importantly, Eddie Howe's tactics saw Newcastle through.

At the end of the game, PIF and Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan promised that this was just the first.

Hands off!

Yasir Al-Rumayyan has told Newcastle United to resist ANY offers for Alexander Isak

Beyond his public declaration, however, The Daily Mail has revealed what he has said to the club's hierarchy after Alexander Isak bagged the winning goal for Newcastle.

There has been a lot of speculation around the future of Alexander Isak and how they may struggle to keep him beyond this season if Newcastle don't qualify for the Champions League.

Now, though, an edict has come down from on high saying that the club must resist any offers for Isak this summer.

Alexander Isak is due to reopen contract negotiations at the end of this season

That was always the plan anyway, but now the hierarchy knows they risk the wrath of Yasir Al-Rumayyan should they entertain any offers.

It, of course, puts Alexander Isak in a very strong position to negotiate his new contract, with talks expected to be picked up in the off season.

Whatever he asks for, just pay the man. He's worth every penny. Just don't put a release clause in there, I don't think we could handle it.
