The PSR-driven sale of Yankuba Minteh came back to haunt Newcastle United again as the former Magpie scored his second goal of the season against his old club.

Minteh already scored against Newcastle in the FA Cup fifth round after handing the Magpies a penalty earlier in the game.

The Gambian winger was on the scoresheet again on Sunday as Brighton drew 1-1 with Newcastle.

Despite never having played for Newcastle in his year at the club, the winger still clearly has some love for the Magpies after he refused to celebrate his goal in the FA Cup.

Yankuba Minteh appeared to apologise to Newcastle fans for scoring

On Sunday he seemed to apologise to the Newcastle fans before turning to the Brighton fans and pointing at the AMEX turf and he seemed to go to kiss the Brighton badge before he was jumped on by Brighton players.

We weren't entirely sure what point he was trying to make and he was asked about the celebration (via The Chronicle) after the game and we're still non the wiser.

"It's a nice celebration because they were my former team before but now I'm in Brighton and that's where my focus is. So I try to celebrate for them and make them happy."

“I was happy with the goal because this is what I dream of every time. If I don’t score in a game, to make a pass.

“It’s an amazing feeling. Everybody wants to prove the team which sell them and I try to do that every time I play against them. I am happy about it.”

Clear as mud, cheers

That didn't help us because he was gesturing to the away fans with his hands together as if to apologise.

If you're so confused, Yankuba, just come home, we'll take you back, no problem.

If nothing else, it will stop him from scoring against us!
