Newcastle United had to wait almost two weeks to properly celebrate their Carabao Cup win with the fans, but they did it in style on Saturday.

Hundreds of thousands of fans turned out to watch the open-top bus parade with over 100,000 crammed onto the Town Moor to watch Bruno Guimaraes swear his head off for a few minutes.

The players looked like they were having the time of their lives on the bus and then on the stage, dancing, singing, and swearing.

It was so fun to watch and we dare bet it was even more fun to be a part of.

Alan Shearer says Eddie Howe had banned the players from drinking on Saturday

However, Alan Shearer has revealed on The Rest Is Football podcast that the players, unbelievably, were stone-cold sober as Eddie Howe had them all in work mode with a game coming up on Wednesday.

“They’ve got Brentford on Wednesday and they trained yesterday,”

“They’re training today, they’re training Monday, they’re training Tuesday, and they’re training Wednesday morning as well because Eddie had taken them to Dubai and he said, no, that’s your party.

“And they weren’t allowed to drink yesterday, or last evening. None of them went to the after party. He got them back straight in and focused.”

Some players will have to wait until the end of the season to celebrate properly

A big chunk of players couldn't celebrate too much on the day after winning the trophy as they were heading off for International duty the next day, and those same players obviously missed the celebrations in Dubai too.

We wonder, then, if there will be even more celebrating done at the end of the season. We imagine there will be, especially if they manage to secure Champions League football.

We still can't believe Bruno Guimaraes was sober on Saturday. He really is just a heed the ball!
