It has been a good couple of days for Newcastle United players representing their respective countries.

Alexander Isak got things underway with a brace for Sweden as they beat Azerbaijan 3-1 in the Nations League on Thursday evening.

Then today Trevan Sanusi was on the scoresheet for England U18s as they drew with Switzerland U18s with the Swiss scoring a last-minute penalty to level things up.

Meanwhile, new striker Will Osula bagged the opening goal of the game as Denmark U21s fell to a 4-2 defeat to their Iceland counterparts.

Will Osula - One start, one goal this season

Will Osula has Alexander Isak to look up to at Newcastle

Osula signed in the summer for what could be £15 million from Sheffield United has yet to make his competitive debut for Newcastle, but a goal while away on international duty will no doubt give him a confidence boost as he patiently awaits his debut.

It sounds as though Osula has bonded pretty quickly with fellow Scandinavian striker Alexander Isak as he told Danish outlet, Bold.

“We ‘connected’ immediately. He’s like my big brother. We both play in attack. We are both from Scandinavia, so it just makes sense. We play a lot of things like table tennis together.

“We’re just having fun. It’s very cool.”

Can Anthony Gordon keep the streak going?

Now it's up to Anthony Gordon. Can he bag his first senior international goal when England take on Ireland on Saturday night to keep the Geordie goals flowing?

ITV will be showing the clash which kicks off at 5pm on Saturday.

We'll be hoping to see Anthony Gordon involved, and maybe a cameo from Tino Livramento too, but we'd be surprised if Nick Pope gets any time on the pitch.
