Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been ranked by Sky Sports Saturday Social against every other club's top strikers this season.

Despite missing a hefty chunk of games, although not as hefty as his teammate Callum Wilson, there's no doubt that Alexander Isak is Newcastle's number one striker right now.

With 17 goals in 24 appearances in the Premier League that's a goals-per-game ratio that's unmatched in the league this season.

However, Isak wasn't given the crown by James Lawrence Alcott and Nieve Petruzziello with one striker deemed to have had a better season.

Isak was placed in second behind Ollie Watkins

Surprisingly, despite topping the scoring charts alongside attacking midfielder Cole Palmer, Isak was placed ahead of Erling Haaland, something I'm sure will have gone down well in Manchester.

Isak was put up in second place behind Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, which, and it figuratively kills me to say this, is probably fair. Purely because Watkins has played more games and has therefore had to keep at a level for longer than Isak.

Of course, you could argue that with Isak being just two goals behind Watkins in eight fewer games, shows that he's the better striker. In fact, can I retract my previous statement?

Newcastle fans know the truth

Whatever outsiders think, we know that Alexander Isak is best striker in the Premier League right now, his minutes per goal shows that quite clearly, but it has purely been his fitness record since joining Newcastle that's stopped him from getting all the hype that Ollie Watkins and Erling Haaland have received.

He's got a few more to put away this season to catch up to Palmer and Haaland, but with Newcastle's relatively easy run-in, there's ample opportunity for Isak to still clinch the Golden Boot this season.

If he can stay fit next season, he's going to be the one to catch.
