Newcastle United's third kit went on sale today (Tuesday, 1st July) following the release of a quality promotional video starring Sam Fender and a bunch of Newcastle players past and present.

On the first viewing, I'm not going to lie, I missed the stinger at the end of the promo with Dan Burn delivering the classic "How's the bacon, did you say?" line. A nice little pop at our former gaffer.

So far, the two kits launched by Adidas this year have gone down very well with fans, although the away kit is yet to come, and a leaked image of the shirt has certainly split the fanbase, albeit with most fans swinging towards the negative side of the spectrum.

In our poll asking fans if they liked the green and white away shirt, only 10% were positive, while a large majority voted for "we've had worse", which is pretty much where I'd rank it too.

ESPN have ranked both released Newcastle kits very highly

In fairness, the reaction to the third kit was fairly lukewarm, but the Sam Fender-starring promo seems to have convinced a few people.

Not everyone was on the fence, though, as ESPN are ranking the new kit releases as they come out, and while they only have 13 kits to rank so far, Newcastle have done very well.

Tottenham's home shirt is, quite predictably, propping up the table as there's not much you can really do with white with blue sleeves, but Newcastle top the charts with their navy, orange and green third kit, while the new home shirt comes in third with Everton's new home shirt wedged between the Toon pair.

Can Newcastle hold on to the title?

We can't wait to see where ESPN rank our green and white second kit and whether they rate it higher than we do.

Given that they've put Everton's home shirt in second place, our green effort stands a good chance because there's nothing special about that Castore effort from the Toffees. You'd think they'd have gone all-out with it being their first year in the new stadium.

Still, it is definitely better than Spurs' home shirt. Let's see if the Toon can retain the title at the end of the summer when all the kits have been revealed.
