It seems Stan Collymore stories are like buses, although Newcastle United fans weren't waiting around for one, but you're getting two at once anyway.

As we covered earlier, Stan Collymore said his piece on the future of Eddie Howe on X yesterday, but it wasn't just the manager that the former Aston Villa striker had his eye on.

Yoane Wissa has had a very difficult start to life on Tyneside after missing four months through injury before he'd even trained with the club he'd fought so hard to move to during the summer.

When he did return, he quickly found himself amongst the goals, but he still looks far from the goal machine he was for Brentford last season.

Stan Collymore says Yoane Wissa needs a cuddle

Stan Collymore noted the lack of confidence in our new Number 9 and took to X to ask the Geordies what's going on, but in doing so, he accused the Newcastle fans of losing patience with him.

"Geordies, what's going on with Wissa? A natural ball carrier he looks as though he's going to trip over the ball when its in front of him, from a former striker's perspective ( Watkins similar this season too) it looks as though he's struggling with confidence?

"As fans we maybe judge strikers differently but there seemed to be an audible groan when he got it, almost as though the crowd have given up on him a bit?

"Maybe make a point of giving him a cuddle because he's a talented guy..."

What is Collymore talking about?

We're not sure what he's talking about here. We never heard an audible groan when he got the ball. There may have been one after he lost it, tripping over himself, but that was more that the opportunity had gone rather than a pointed criticism of a striker who is clearly not 100% fit and low on confidence.

If the fans haven't given up on Anthony Elanga yet, they are surely nowhere near giving up on Yoane Wissa, who had a much more stressful start to his Newcastle career and has done way more in the short time he's been available.

After a sensible-ish and balanced point about Eddie Howe, it feels nice to point out when Collymore is wrong again. Balance is restored.
