We've had the four-year anniversary of Eddie Howe taking over as Newcastle United boss, and this month sees Bruno Guimaraes pass the same milestone, along with Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn.

What a four years it has been. It hasn't quite been the fairytale rise that many imagined when the PIF-backed takeover was announced as completed, thanks to various restrictions and obstacles. There have been many ups and downs, but you can't deny that Newcastle have come a long way in that time.

A huge part of Newcastle's transformation has been Bruno Guimaraes who arrived from Lyon for £35 million in January 2022 and instantly injected a level of class that had been missing from the side for so long.

Now the team captain, we can't even imagine where we'd be without the Brazilian, especially when you consider how we've never won a Premier League game in which he's not been involved since he signed.

Bruno Guimaraes wore a suit to meet Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe has been reflecting on Bruno's start to life at Newcastle in his press conference on Friday morning, and the gaffer noted how he rocked up wearing a suit, and Howe instantly knew he'd signed a good character.

“It's very difficult to sum it up quite quickly because I think he has been an incredible signing. You never quite know. I'd never met Bruno before, so it was a big signing because we needed Bruno to come in and be the player that he has been, but you never quite know how the dynamic and the chemistry is going to work."

"From the day that he turned up in his suit, when he showed great respect for the moment in his career, I thought, 'He's a good person' and he's gone on to great things.

"It's been great to see his development, actually, from the player that he was when he arrived to the player that he is today, and then you see the success that he's had, helping us win a trophy and playing for Brazil, and just the way that he's done it as well, the way he's embraced the supporters, the way, the way he always responds well in any moment.

“I think he's been a class act and full credit to himself."

Could Bruno end his career at Newcastle?

Bruno Guimares said from day one that he wanted to become a legend at Newcastle United and write his name in the history books.

In March, Bruno captained the team to their first domestic trophy in 70 years, so that could be mission accomplished for the Brazilian, but he's still here and working harder than ever.

We don't see Bruno going anywhere for at least a couple of years. We know that when he arrived, he didn't hide his desire to conquer the Spanish league too, but Newcastle is under his skin now, and there's even a chance he sees out his career on Tyneside.
