Alan Shearer was in no fit state to participate in the recording of The Rest Is Football podcast on Sunday night after Newcastle United's Carabao Cup win, but they recorded a special show on Monday to catch up with the former Newcastle number nine.
The EFL Cup win on Sunday will have meant so many different things to every fan who witnessed it, but for Alan Shearer, he finally got to see his beloved Newcastle United end their trophy drought, something that he had tried and failed to do on several occasions.
Shearer was caught on camera jumping around Wembley Stadium celebrating the goals and the overall win, you could see how much it meant to the Geordie hero.
The former Toon skipper was still beaming on Monday as he recorded the podcast special with Gary Lineker and Micah Richards - probably helped by the fact that he'd topped up his Guinness levels.
Shearer revealed that he met up with the players after the game and admitted what he told goalscorer Dan Burn.
The Blyth-born lad has had one hell of a week, being called up for England for the first time at the age of 32 and then scoring Newcastle's first goal at Wembley for 25 years on the way to ending a 70-year domestic trophy drought. Shearer had the perfect advice for the 6'7" centre-back.
"I was having a pint with him last night and I said, 'You might as well retire, man. The week you've had, it's not getting any better."
Okay, so those weren't his actual words, but we can't print those. You can watch them from the man himself by clicking that video above; it's well worth a watch to get Shearer's full reaction to the day.
Shearer also said that he never managed to speak with Eddie Howe but he did send the gaffer a text which simply said "Thank you 🖤🤍".
I think the man speaks for us all with that one.
