West Ham have reportedly agreed a season-long loan move for a defender who was once on Newcastle United's wish list.
Last summer Newcastle were considering a move for French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo who plays for OGC Nice in Ligue 1.
To be honest, it was quite a surprise given Newcastle's desire to improve their defensive options, that those links didn't resurface with any real conviction this summer.
However, one club that were very keen on singing Todibo was Manchester United.
In another middle finger to Man United, they were told they couldn't sign Todibo due to INEOS ownership stake in both clubs as well as the fact that they are both set to compete in the same European tournament next season.
It was another blow to INEOS and Manchester United stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe who has spent the majority of his time since buying into Manchester United crying about not being able to do what he wants.
Now, journalist Santi Auona has posted on X that an agreement has been reached between West Ham and Nice over a season-long loan.
That's really going to grind Ratcliffe's gears after crying to Bloomberg about being told that Nice can sell Todibo to another Premier League club, just not Manchester United.
“They've said we can sell him to another Premiership club. But that's not fair on the player and I don't see what that achieves.”
Honestly, the more things that go wrong for Jim Ratcliffe, the better I feel about life. That might be petty and spiteful, but I can't help what I find funny. Frankly, he deserves it after going around Manchester United wielding the axe and cutting jobs left, right and centre.
