Website names every Premier League club's best player so far this season - Ex Newcastle United players are heavily featured
Newcastle United have a good record of selling players and watching them go on to become way better than they ever were in the black and white.
The example I always turn to for this stat is Jon Dahl Tomasson. The recently sacked Sweden head coach arrived at Newcastle with tonnes of promise and just never managed to cut it at Newcastle. After we sold him, he turned into an unstoppable goal machine with AC Milan.
More recently, there are two young players who instantly spring to mind, and they are both, unsurprisingly, featured in Football365's list of the best players so far for each Premier League club this season.
Indeed, there are four former Magpies on their list, and we'll also cover who they say is our best player so far this season.
Yankuba Minteh - Brighton and Hove Albion
Newcastle sold Minteh before he'd even made a single appearance for the club. Fans were dying to see what he could do after a superb season on loan at Feyenoord, joining the Dutch side immediately after signing his contract at Newcastle. PSR forced the Magpies into selling Minteh to Brighton, and the young winger has been a revelation on the south coast.
Martin Dubravka - Burnley
Martin Dubravka was a tremendous servant for Newcastle United, and even last season, he was seen by many as the preferred choice in goal ahead of Nick Pope. If he were still here, we'd probably be calling for him to replace the England hopeful now. He's doing very well for Burnley this season, showing that he still has what it takes to be a Number 1.
Sean Longstaff - Leeds United
Hands up who saw this one coming? Now put your hand down, you absolute filthy liar. Sean Longstaff had his moments for Newcastle, but he was elevated in status simply by being a product of our academy. He was average at best. However, he looks like a player reborn at Leeds. We think he's probably found his level.
Elliot Anderson - Nottingham Forest
Okay, this one we all saw coming. Anderson has been nothing short of a revelation at Forest since PSR forced us to sell him at the same time as we sold Minteh to Brighton. Anderson has earned a spot in Thomas Tuchel's England team, where he's regularly regarded as one of the better players on the pitch. We still stand by the idea that had Anderson stayed at Newcastle, he wouldn't be as highly regarded as he is now, as he simply wouldn't have been offered the same number of minutes he's been given at Forest.
Who is your Player of the Season so far?
Malick Thiaw is Football365's pick for Newcastle's Player of the Season so far
We were going to do a poll asking which player you miss the most, but the only way Anderson doesn't get a 100% clean sweep is if Longstaff's family are reading this and they voted.
Incidentally, Football365 say that Malick Thiaw is Newcastle's player of the season so far, and honestly, we're inclined to agree, but what do you think?
We've got some good contenders this season, in fairness. Nick Woltemade has to be up there, as does Sandro Tonali and maybe even Harvey Barnes.
