'We got a bit tired': Alexis Mac Allister says Liverpool players were frustrated with Alexander Isak saga - Our hearts bleed
Alexander Isak created a transfer saga for the ages this summer by spitting his dummy out, going on strike and generally being a bit of a 'Richard' at Newcastle United to force a move to Liverpool.
His actions not only drove a wedge between him and others inside the club, but it also turned the Newcastle fanbase against one of the best players to don the black and white for years.
It took all summer for Isak to get his move with the deal going through on deadline day as Newcastle tried to sign a replacement - but how do you replace someone like Isak? Especially when other clubs with fewer PSR restrictions are also fishing in the same pond?
Newcastle ultimately recruited well, and we're happy with what we ended up with, and I think, despite the big hole he's left in terms of quality, most fans are glad Isak has gone - his toxicity would have derailed our season.
Oh no, Liverpool had to wait to get their man
Now, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has spoken to TNT Sports about Isak's transfer and had the gall to say that he and his teammates were tired of the saga. Oh, I'm so sorry for your difficulties; it must have been so painful having to wait to get one of the World's best strikers through the door.
"At the beginning, it was a big thing and after a while we got a bit tired because it was too long.
"But we all know the player he is. He is going to be really, really important and we are happy to have him here."
"Maybe the other club are not happy but that's the way football works, they paid quite a lot of money so I think it's good for both clubs.
"It's good for him because it's what he wanted, we are so happy to have him because we know the player that he is and we suffered against him a couple of times as well."
In hindsight, things worked out well
At least, unlike Isak, Mac Allister acknowledged Newcastle United in his statement.
In all seriousness, things probably have worked out for the best all around, as Isak's toxicity is miles away from the rest of our squad and the club has a decent warchest and is free of PSR for a while at least.
And now we have Nick Woltemade. The future is Woltemessi!
