We get that Manchester City are in a title race and they won last night but where was the praise for Newcastle United in the national media?
Newcastle United fought hard and had Manchester City quite rattled at the Etihad Stadium last night. Yes, the result went the way of the home side as it always does at that ground, but Newcastle could and indeed should have had more.
Once again, some poor officiating was the talk dominating the Newcastle United discussion after the game, although all of that discussion was taking place purely in and around Tyneside, as the national media seemed to forget Newcastle was even involved last night.
Watching the game on TNT Sports was an infuriating experience. They might as well have rebranded themselves as MCTV for the night, as every little thing any player in light blue did last night was met with utter delight by the commentary team of Darren Fletcher and Glenn Hoddle.
If we had a quid for every time they mentioned how big the win would be for City and they'd close the gap on Arsenal to two points, we'd be able to launch this site into the stratosphere.
Please, sir, can we get a tiny mention? Perhaps some acknowledgement of our existence?
Even poor Lynsey Hipgrave, a Newcastle fan, who was on duty at the game for TNT Sports, didn't get much of a chance to talk about her team.
At least TNT Sports had the decency to discuss the Dan Burn disallowed goal, mind. Match Of The Day just relentlessly cooed over Manchester City for the entirety of their analysis, with Micah Richards and Wayne Rooney basking in the greatness of Erling Haaland ... who Dan Burn and Malick Thiaw kept from scoring yet again, by the way.
I mean, a lot of the praise around Haaland's performance was for what he did in defence ... does that not tell you something?
The controversial incident, which saw Dan Burn shoved into an offside position by Ruben Dias before putting away his goal, was breezed over in commentary and then never mentioned again.
Media bias is beyond irritating at times
The way the game went, if that goal had stood, there's a good chance Newcastle could have stolen a win last night, that's how good they were in the second half, but the BBC didn't even mention a single thing about our performance.
As the title says, we understand that Man City's title charge is the main story and the big focus for the majority of viewers, but could we get a cursory mention, please? Especially after having endured two hours of MCTV masquerading as a neutral station.
There's absolutely zero purpose to this article other than venting my spleen about the media bias non-big six clubs face. We know we aren't alone with this gripe.
