Eddie Howe's unchanged Mags made it three consecutive wins against Manchester United for the first time since 1922 at St James' Park tonight.

Newcastle United dominated from the first whistle and should have been out of sight in the first half but for some excellent/lucky defending from Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

The Magpies were relentless in their attacking play, but the final ball or shot always seemed to find an outstretched limb of one of the aforementioned defenders.

Anthony Gordon can now comapre himself to Alan Shearer

Thankfully neither defender was able to get anything on the superb Kieran Trippier cross on 55 minutes which was duly slotted home by none other than Anthony Gordon who has now scored in four Premier League games in a row - the first Englishman to do so for Newcastle since one Alan Shearer in 1999.

Bruno Guimaraes had another outstanding game in the middle of the park but was extremely humble with his post-match tweet, heaping praise on his team.

"Amazing performance of our team today! Very happy with what we are building here! We continue for more"

We're pondering on our player ratings so we can discuss who our star man is as there are so many contenders and all for very different reasons.

Everton are next on Thursday, Anthony Gordon will be looking forward to that

Given that those eleven players have now played three games in a week. playing almost every minute, too, it's a phenomenal achievement that they're still standing.

Anthony Gordon looked a bit uncomfortable coming off the field, and of course, we now have to see how bad Nick Pope's injury is - it looked like a bad one - but we're now not in action until Thursday when we go to Everton.

Fingers crossed we get one or two players back before then just to give Eddie Howe some options.
