'We are finding our rhythm': Eddie Howe asked if Newcastle United are finally clicking after slow start
Newcastle United are very much a team in transition after bringing in six new players over the summer.
Eddie Howe has had to tinker to find the right starting lineup to get the best out of each player, and that hasn't been easy with two of the new players sustaining injuries before having a chance to get going.
Just as this team gets settled, Howe will have to come up with a way to integrate both Jacob Ramsey and Yoane Wissa.
Although by then, most of the pieces will be in place, the disruption when introducing a new player will be minimal.
There's still work to be done at Newcastle
The new defensive partnership of Sven Botman and Malick Thiaw has taken no time at all to gel, but up front is where the main problems have been with goals so hard to come by at the start of the season.
Things are turning a corner on that front with many fans suggesting that things are starting to click, but in typical fashion, Eddie Howe isn't getting too carried away as he told reporters in his pre-match press conference this morning.
"We've got a few clicks to go but I will always be saying that regardless of how well we are playing. We are finding our rhythm, we are a new team and any change takes time to absorb but I am confident we can continue to get better."
Eddie Howe would demand more from his players even if everything was perfect
Obviously, we're far from the finished article, so Eddie Howe is right in saying we have a few more clicks to go, but as the man himself admits, even if things were running perfectly, Howe would still not be fully satisfied.
Sunday's game against Nottingham Forest is an ideal opportunity to put a team to the sword as they struggle to adjust to Ange Postecoglou's style of play.
A big win would allay a lot of fears amongst the fanbase, but a win of any kind will do.
