Newcastle United's Lewis Hall had a good night for England U21s last night providing two assists and bagging Player of the Match.

It's a testament to how hard Hall has been working since he joined Newcastle last summer on loan from Chelsea before making his move permanent this summer for around £28 million that he's now a regular in Eddie Howe's first team and being able to showcase his talent for the Young Lions.

For a while last season it had looked like Hall's Newcastle career was over before it had even got started as Howe continued to overlook the 20-year-old.

The story was that Howe didn't feel like Hall's defensive abilities were up to scratch, and there were times when he did play that that was apparent, but Hall has been working hard on that side of his game although does admit that he loves to get forward.

Lewis Hall is still trying to improve both the attacking and defensive side of his game

North East-based journalist Daniel Wales caught up with Hall at full-time after England beat Austria 4-1 and asked the Newcastle full-back a few questions about life under Eddie Howe, but first of all asked him about whether he sees himself as an attacking full-back.

"I want to be able to do both sides of the game, really. I've always had the attacking quality in my opinion, which I can still improve on. I think defensively as well, I'm trying to improve and I have done that massively but I think there's still a lot more improvement to be done defensively and offensively as well."

Hall then praised Howe and his coaching team for helping him develop which prompted Wales to ask what it's like working under Howe.

Hall says Howe's coaching style is unique

"I think he's very unique in terms of his ideas. The way he coaches is a little different to something I've ever had before. He works so hard, not just for the team in general but for individuals as well.

"As any manger does, they have a lot of work to do before a game and after a game but he'll still take time to help individuals on the pitch who may not even be playing to help them improve their game whilst they're trying to get into the team. I think that's a big, big quality that he has."

Hall finished off by saying he has nothing but good words to say about Howe.

We've seen many times now, how Howe can take a player who is struggling and get the best out of them, there can't be any managers in the country better at developing players than Howe.
