Watch: How Sandro Tonali reacted to Jacob Ramsey's winning goal at Tottenham speaks volumes about Newcastle United future
Sandro Tonali's future at Newcastle United is the hot topic of debate right now following a deadline day scare last week.
A report emerged that Arsenal were planning an audacious deadline day swoop to steal Sandro Tonali from Newcastle last week.
The rumour was quickly shut down, but unfortunately, that crack in the dam only caused more stories to spill forth and they weren't helped by Tonali's agent Giuseppe Riso leaving the door open for a summer move.
As we said earlier today, it does feel like this is more like Riso trying to get another payday than it does Tonali pushing for a move, and this footage of Sandro Tonali certainly points towards that being the case.
Sandro Tonali certainly looked committed on Tuesday
NUFCBlog posted this video of Tonali along with Jacob Murphy, celebrating Jacob Ramsey's goal on Tuesday, and that doesn't look like a player who has lost interest in the club to me.
Granted, some of the Italian's performances of late have certainly pointed towards a lack of passion, but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. There could be a perfectly good reason for it. I mean, he's just had a kid, maybe he's not getting enough rest, and it's affecting his performances.
Perhaps he's just exhausted with the heavy schedule and the lack of cover. We don't really know.
We're 50/50 on whether Sandro Tonali will leave Newcastle United this summer
As for his future, we're pretty much 50/50 right now as to whether he'll be a Newcastle player next season. It does feel like Riso is determined to find him a new club, but even he admitted that Tonali is committed to Newcastle.
A lot may depend on where Newcastle finish in the Premier League this season, or how far they get in the Champions League and FA Cup. If Tonali feels the club can pick up silverware again, he may stay.
He is contracted until 2029, so if he does want away this summer, Newcastle will make sure they are properly compensated. Whether they reinvest that wisely is another matter altogether.
