'Very good': Eddie Howe says he was impressed with 20-year-old midfielder who is very 'composed'

Pre-season is a good time for clubs to give a run out for players who are just on the fringes of the first-team and that's something Eddie Howe did today as Newcastle United took on Hull City.

The Magpies ran out 2-0 winners at the MKM stadium after an impressive first half that saw Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy finding the net.

As Howe made several changes in the second half the game lost its way and became, as Howe himself described "bitty".

While the gaffer mentioned his forward three for particular praise, somehow overlooking the brilliant performance from Lewis Hall, he was asked about how he felt Lewis Miley's big brother Jamie got on after being handed a start.

Howe has a lot of confidence in Jamie Miley

Speaking to newcastleunited.com Howe spoke of the similarities between Lewis and Jamie Miley.

"Jamie's got very similar qualities to Lewis, of course, his brother. He's very composed on the ball, he's very mature for his age, he's trustworthy on the pitch, I thought he delivered a very good performance."

Many fans have often wondered how Jamie must have felt seeing his little brother stealing the limelight last season, but he may now be feeling he can replicate Lewis' achievement and get into the first team.

Miggy and Schar returned to training on Friday

Howe then went on to suggest that there will be a fair few more players available to him for the two games in Japan next week with some players rested on Saturday as they're just coming back from injury and Howe didn't want to push them too hard.

Also, Miguel Almiron and Fabian Schar returned to training on Friday and are likely to head out to the Far East too.

If only they had some new faces joining them then it would have been a pretty good day all round.
