Premier League clubs have to submit their 25-man pool of players twice in a season, once after each transfer window closes.

Newcastle United have today confirmed their squad of players via their official website and it threw up no real surprises.

While he remains at the club, Isaac Hayden was not given a spot in the squad, but that one isn't so much a surprise as it is a sad story.

There are some names missing from the list but they are of youngsters under the age of 21 who don't need to be registered, so the likes of Lewis Hall, Will Osula and Lewis Miley don't need to be named.

Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman have been included

The next date to confirm squads is at the beginning of February after the January transfer window closes.

It's with this in mind that Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles have been included in the squad for the first half of the season as both are expected to return from injury before the turn of the year.

Botman seems to be doing well with his recovery and Eddie Howe admitted in his press conference this morning that Lascelles is a bit behind the big Dutchman. However, both could be in contention to return to action before the end of January, hence their inclusion.

Odysseas Vlachodimos has been given a place in the 25-man squad

4 Sven Botman
