'Unbelievable': Lewis Hall reacts to his first Newcastle United start since February in win over Manchester City
Lewis Hall made a triumphant return to action for Newcastle United on Saturday, starring in the Magpies' 2-1 win over title-chasers Manchester City.
With Dan Burn suspended after his red card against Brentford, Lewis Hall was thrown back into the starting lineup, as was Tino Livramento after Kieran Trippier complained of a hamstring injury at the end of Friday's training session.
Lewis Hall had been working his way back to starting and was probably ready to take on a full game, but Tino Livramento was just coming back after a six-week layoff. Ironically, it was Tino who played the full game, with Hall coming off late in the game with suspected cramp.
Both players gave everything for the cause and were instrumental in the win. It was so good seeing them both back on the field and that was a sentiment shared by their teammates.
Lewis Hall enjoyed himself on Saturday night
Hall took to Instagram after the game to say, "That one felt good! Unbelievable atmosphere today ❤️".
He received some encouraging messages from other players too, with his best mate, Tino, chiming in with "Wharra player".
Of course, Bruno Guimaraes, who loves building up his teammates on social media after a win, said what we were all thinking, "Missed you too much my bro❤️"
Newcastle don't have long to recover before having to go again
It's a quick turnaround once again with the team back in action on Tuesday in the Champions League as they face Marseille, so hopefully the cramps and knocks that Hall and Tino picked up will have calmed down enough that they can go again on Tuesday night.
It's amazing what one win can do to lift the mood around the club. It was a long international break, stewing in the filth that was the defeat to Brentford, but it was ultimately worth it for that performance last night.
More of those this season, please!
