'Unbelievable': Bruno Guimaraes was very happy with what he did for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest on Sunday
Bruno Guimaraes masterminded Newcastle United's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday as the Magpies were eventually able to turn domination into goals.
Nottingham Forest kept Newcastle at bay brilliantly in the first half at St James' Park on Sunday, nullifying the Magpies' domination with possession and holding the home side back.
It felt like it was going to be one of those days for the longest time, even after the break, when Newcastle upped their game, Matz Sels in the Forest goal was equal to everything that was thrown at him.
Fortunately, Bruno Guimaraes had had enough by the hour mark and after winning the ball from Morgan Gibbs-White with a bit of help from Dan Burn, Bruno charged up the field and took matters into his own hands with a sublime curling effort from 20 yards which gave Sels no chance.
Bruno Guimaraes impressed himself with his goal against Nottingham Forest
Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, Bruno, who also won the penalty for Newcastle's second goal, says he's been practising those shots in training.
"I think it's unbelievable.
"I've been training a lot, shooting outside of the box. I know something that I can add in my game. I think that is one important goal.
"When I saw the space, the first thing my mind was, why not? So I get my chance. I think it was a great finish.
"I have to see the video, but in that pitch, I thought was an unbelievable finish. And happy to score a goal today."

Our midfield is definitely the best in the Premier League
It was the absolute definition of a captain's performance from the Brazilian on Sunday, but it was perhaps his midfield partner, Sandro Tonali, who shaded our pick for Player of the Match.
Tonali is just an absolute joy to watch. The things he does with the ball are breathtaking. If anyone else had hit that looping volley from near the byline towards the far corner of the goal, you'd have been certain it was a failed cross, but Tonali is that good that you just know he was going for goal. Who was your Player of the Match? Let us know in our poll.
We've said it a thousand times before, but our midfield has to be the best in the Premier League with Joelinton rounding out the trio. Just think, when we go and bring Elliot Anderson home in January, just how good it's going to be then. We can dream.
