A young Newcastle United winger who impressed the Toon Army this summer in pre-season has now scored for England U18s.

Trevan Sanusi who had been very impressive in pre-season for Newcastle was representing England U18s as the young Lions were denied a victory over Switzerland thanks to a last-minute penalty.

It was the Newcastle winger who bagged the goal that looked set to hand England the victory after he received the ball on the left and side of the 18-yard box and cut inside firing low and hard into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

The 17-year-old showed that he is not shy about bringing the ball forward during pre-season, but we hadn't been introduced to his finishing abilities. The kid is looking like the full package and we don't think it will be long before he becomes part of Eddie Howe's plans.

Newcastle beat some top clubs to the signing of Trevan Sanusi

Sanusi was brought into the club from Birmingham City last year and was being looked at by several top Premier League sides, so it was quite a coup for Newcastle.

He'd obviously shown enough for the stiffs that Eddie Howe wanted to take a closer look for himself, hence his involvement in pre-season.

We're confident he had impressed Howe, but we know for a fact that he impressed the fans.

Sanusi has to oust Harvey Barnes or Anthony Gordon

There were calls from fans to see Sanusi used by Howe this season, and we dare bet that we'll see him in the first team at some point.

Sanusi's big issue is that he plays on the left wing where we already have to top players fighting for that position.

He's only 17 though and as long as Newcastle can keep hold of him, he could become a big star for the Magpies in the future.
