Two Newcastle United stars selected in Sky Sports' Team of the Weekend after FA Cup action
Sky Sports have put out their picks for a Team of the Weekend after the FA Cup fourth round, which still has one game to go at the time of writing.
It seems a bit premature, and also a bit strange that they've gone with Team of the Weekend rather than a Team of the Round.
Perhaps even more strange is that every player Matt Taylor has selected has come from a Premier League side.
On X, where the team was posted, there have understandably been some eyebrows raised at some of the selections.
James Trafford was tested to the limits by League Two Salford City ... he must have been to be picked in the Team of the Weekend
Matt Taylor selected James Trafford as the goalkeeper. There's no doubt that the Manchester City man had a decent game, but he was up against Salford City of League Two.
Tammy Abraham is selected as the striker after his goal against Newcastle ... which was offside. He didn't really do a whole lot else, either.
Taylor did select two Newcastle players in Lewis Hall and Sandro Tonali, and we can't really complain about those choices.
Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall flew the flag for Newcastle
Sandro Tonali needed to give a big performance, especially in the wake of all the controversy surrounding his future, which has been whipped up by his agent, and scoring two goals in the one game went a long way to repairing the damage.
Lewis Hall continues to be Newcastle's best player. He rarely puts a foot wrong these days. He's solid at the back and often gets Newcastle on the front foot too.
I never watched the Liverpool v Brighton game, so I can't comment about it too much, but five Liverpool players in the Team of the Weekend? Really?
