Newcastle United's pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi looks to have hit a wall with many outlets reporting that the Magpies are set to walk away from the deal.

By all accounts, Steve Parish, who has been insufferable (from a Newcastle point of view, he's probably being heralded as a genius by Crystal Palace fans) through this whole process, has once again increased the asking price for Guehi which he had already done once before when Newcastle felt they were nearing a resolution.

Should Newcastle walk away it's extremely likely that Paul Mitchell ends his first transfer window at the club with nothing to show for it as the deals the Magpies have done this summer, were done before his arrival.

However, speaking on TalkSPORT, former Watford striker Troy Deeney has hinted that things may not be over for Marc Guehi when it comes to leaving Crystal Palace before tomorrow's deadline.

Troy Deeney believes Marc Guehi will leave Crystal Palace tomorrow

After Alex Crook confirmed the increase in asking price is likely to force Newcastle to walk away, Troy Deeney chimed in saying he still thinks Guehi will move.

"I just think with him, and I've got a little bit of insight, I still think he'll move."

He was pushed on whether it will be to Newcastle but Deeney just gave the same response but added the word "tomorrow".

Could Guehi be headed somewhere other than Newcastle?

The fact that Deeney could be seen nodding along in agreement when Alex Crook was talking about Newcastle potentially not being able to bring anybody else in is a bit of a worry, suggesting that he feels some other club could swoop in and take Guehi away from Palace.

We can only wait and see as time ticks away.

Many outlets are reporting that the deal is dead, but it ain't over 'till it's over and until the clock strikes 11pm on Friday night, there's still a chance it gets done.
