Eddie Howe's unbeaten Newcastle United travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday to take on Fulham in a good old 3pm Saturday kick-off.

The Magpies have been far from convincing so far this season but have managed to grind out results even when it looked unlikely.

Sure, we'd all prefer to watch the entertaining side of two seasons ago, cutting through defences and defending resiliently, but this season we've had to make do with a we'll score one more than you mentality.

It hasn't been fun to watch, in fact, it has been downright infuriating and almost soul-destroying, but the results have been what matters and if we scrap our way to another win on Saturday at Fulham will anyone really be too bothered?

Chris Sutton has echoed the sentiments of Paul Merson

Writing for the BBC, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has found it hard to separate Fulham and Newcastle when making his prediction.

"Fulham won nine and lost eight of their 19 home Premier League games last season, but I always fancied them to win at Craven Cottage.

"They should have beaten West Ham there last weekend, when they had chances to go further ahead before Danny Ings' 95th-minute equaliser for the Hammers.

"Newcastle are still a bit of an unknown quantity for me because I can't say I've been particularly impressed by them so far.

"Eventually, Eddie Howe's side are going to come a cropper, but at the moment they are finding a way to win games, even if they are relying on moments of brilliance by individual players rather than playing well as a team.

"They are the side who are tricky to predict here because I was spot on with a 1-1 draw for Fulham last week. So, I am going for the same outcome... even though I fancy them to win this one more than I do Newcastle.

Newcastle are undefeated at Craven Cottage under Eddie Howe

Like Paul Merson, Sutton has made a point of stating that he believes Newcastle are riding their luck with their poor performances and that it can't last forever.

We'd be lying if we didn't feel the same, but as stated before, if it's another poor performance resulting in a win on Saturday, we won't care at all.

Newcastle haven't lost at Craven Cottage under Eddie Howe and we don't expect them to start now.
