Thomas Tuchel will preside over his first game as England manager on Friday night at Wembley as the Three Lions take on Albania in a 7:45pm kick-off.

The German is the first permanent England boss since Gareth Southgate who stepped down from the role in the summer.

England Under 21s manager Lee Carsley had a short spell in the hot seat with The FA searched for Southgate's successor and the era of Thomas Tuchel officially began at the turn of the year.

It's now approaching the time to get our first glimpse as to whether The FA made the right choice. His squad selection raised a few eyebrows, but if they get the job done that will be forgotten, we're sure.

Thomas Tuchel took a lot from Newcastle's Carabao Cup win

Tuchel sat down with ITV for a quick-fire interview in which the German held up Newcastle United as an example of why he believes England can win something under his guidance.

He was asked "It's 60 years next year since England last won a trophy. Why will it be different?"

"It was 70 years for Newcastle and it was different. It was also different because they were in their second final. I strongly believe this."

Big Dan Burn can help England realise World Cup glory

Tuchel will have three Newcastle United players at his disposal this weekend: Dan Burn, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon, fresh off the back of that 70-year drought-ending game, albeit Anthony Gordon didn't play in the final due to suspension.

Big Dan Burn, the man who set the ball rolling for Newcastle is part of the England setup for the first time at 32 and will be hoping to make an impact at Wembley for the second time in a week.

The big man from Blyth now has the perfect opportunity to put himself into the frame for a place in 2026 World Cup squad, but first he has to ensure that England get there.
