We're not sure where these stories are coming from but the internet is awash with stories suggesting that Liverpool are confident they can sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer.
Likely emboldened by that Caught Offside story earlier today, which tries to make out that Alexander Isak has refused Newcastle's contract offer when reports from just last week made it clear that talks weren't going to be resurrected until the season was concluded.
Also ignoring the stories from around the same time that reported Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan's instructions to the club to resist every offer for Isak this summer.
Quite how the narrative can still be twisted to read that the Sweden international is leaving Newcastle this summer is staggering. Nothing the player has said as even hinted at any level of discontent either, so we doubt it's coming from his side.
Yet here we are with Liverpool supposedly confident that they can win the race for Isak this summer, with Graeme Bailey telling Geordie Boot Boys they believe he's there for the taking.
“There is confidence at Liverpool that they are going to sign Alexander Isak.
“They think he is moving, and they are confident of getting him. Liverpool believe they are favourites ahead of Arsenal.”
Liverpool seem to have an odd grasp of reality, especially when you factor in that they believe they have four players who could sweeten the deal for Newcastle.
“There has been talk of players going the other way, which is not a massive surprise given the Anthony Gordon and Joe Gomez situation last summer.
“There are other players at Liverpool who Newcastle like, such as Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak.”
I'm sure I speak for a lot of Newcastle fans when I say that all four of those players plus £100 million still wouldn't be enough to convince us to let Alexander Isak leave for anyone, let alone a Premier League rival.
