It seems like an eternity since Newcastle United last took three points off Liverpool with the Reds having a sterling record against the Magpies in recent years.
Indeed it's almost 10 years since Newcastle last defeated the Merseysiders and The Chronicle has today published a 'Where are they now?' piece which makes for some depressing reading.
I was obviously aware that we hadn't had much luck against Liverpool in recent memory, but the fact that our last win was in 2015 is actually shocking.
As is the fact that several players in that side are now retired. Hardly surprising given how long ago it was, but still, crazy to think about.
Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-0 at St James' Park on 6th December 2015, almost nine years to the day. A Martin Skrtel own goal and a 90th-minute Georginio Wijnaldum strike sealed the deal.
Four of the team that started that game are now retired and two are struggling to find a new club despite being free agents.
Rob Elliot is now the manager of Crawley Town while Siem De Jong, Fabrizio Coloccini and Daryl Janmaat are all retired.
Papiss Cisse is 39 years old and still looking for somewhere to ply his trade while Vernon Anita is also clubless at 35.
Moussa Sissoko is currently at Watford, while Paul Dummett has just joined Wigan Athletic after leaving Newcastle in the summer and Jack Colback is at QPR.
Still playing outside of England are Georginio Wijnaldum who is at Al-Ettifaq and Chancel Mbemba at Marseille.
Those are some names that bring back memories for sure. Now can the likes of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes erase those names from the page that reads "Last NUFC side to win against Liverpool" as Eddie Howe's men take on Arne Slot's side at St James' Park tonight?
We're not holding our breath, but stranger things have happened.
