Eddie Howe is starting to lose some sections of the Newcastle United fanbase during this season, and as a result of that, bookies are starting to take bets on the Magpies boss to be the next Premier League manager to get the axe.

He's still a long shot, so we wouldn't recommend putting your hard-earned beer tokens on him just yet, especially as there have been no indications from the club that his job is under threat at all.

Eddie Howe has always had his detractors amongst the fanbase, and any time we hit a rough patch, they become louder and inevitably recruit a few people along the way.

Realistically, though, Howe's job is one of the safest in the Premier League. At least until the end of this season. If we finish in the bottom half of the Premier League with no cup win to show for our efforts, that may change.

Roberto Mancini would be a decent shout

Does sacking Eddie Howe still look so appealing?

For those calling for Howe's head, though, the big question has to be: Who would you bring in to replace him? Here are the 10 managers the bookies are looking at right now, along with their odds:

Andoni Iraola - 4/1

Oliver Glasner - 5/1

Xavi - 11/2

Kieran McKenna - 8/1

Marco Silva - 8/1

Erik Ten Hag - 10/1

Adi Hutter - 12/1

Edin Terzic - 12/1

Marco Rose - 14/1

Roberto Mancini - 14/1

Do any of those inspire you to wield the axe? Other than Roberto Mancini, none of those are swaying me to the Howe Out side.

Change isn't always a good thing

Of the other nine names, only Edin Terzic piques my interest, but I feel even he would be a big risk.

It's all well and good shouting for change, but when there's nobody out there who could do a better job than we have a realistic shot of landing, what would be the point?

The last thing we want to do is end up like Chelsea and changing managers every six weeks. It's disruptive, it rarely works, and above all, it's embarrassing. So let's get behind the lads and ride this spell out. It will come good.
