England booked their place in next year's World Cup with a 5-0 win over Latvia in Riga last night, with Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon getting on the scoresheet.

Newcastle's other England representative, Dan Burn, made it onto the field as a substitute and also spoke to BBC Sport after the match.

The interview with the Blyth-born defender took place outside the England dressing room, with the interviewer asking how the atmosphere was in the dressing room.

Burn wasted no time in throwing his Toon teammate under the bus by pointing out a dumb comment that he'd made.

Anthony Gordon seemed to forget what they were playing for

For the uninitiated, the World Cup next year is set to take place in North America, that being Mexico, the USA and Canada. A fact that momentarily escaped Anthony Gordon.

"First of all, Ant Gordon was asking why we kept playing songs about America, so that's not a good sign, really, is it?"

Probably not Gordon's proudest moment there.

Dan Burn is determined to be on that plane next year

Dan Burn continued to speak to the BBC's reporter and outlined his dream of being involved in the tournament next year.

"Everyone's really happy. The gaffer was pumped; he said he's always dreamt of being at a World Cup, and that's the same for all the lads that have played at major tournaments before.

"I've not, and I'd love the chance to be able to do that."

Thomas Tuchel does seem to love Dan Burn so he's got a good chance of being on that plane next summer.
