Newcastle United got that away-day monkey off their back at last with a superb 4-1 win over Everton on their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

A brace from Malick Thiaw, a fizzer from Lewis Miley and a sublime chip from Nick Woltemade put the away curse well and truly to bed in a game that Evertonians will want to forget pretty quickly.

Newcastle got off to the perfect start, going a goal up in under a minute as Malick Thiaw headed home a Lewis Miley cross.

Thiaw's opener is the fastest goal of the season so far, beating the record set by Phil Foden earlier today.

Jordan Pickford had an absolute nightmare today

Newcastle had a few more minutes of pressure, but then Everton started to come back into the game, and it felt like it was going to be one of those days again.

But on 25 minutes, Lewis Miley went from provider to finisher as he drilled the ball through Jordan Pickford, and we do mean through. The Mackem may look to James Tarkowski for blocking his vision, but there's no excuse for being a hologram.

Just before half-time, Nick Woltemade scored the goal of the game after Anthony Elanga did very well to feed him the ball despite being knocked over. Pickford came off his line to close down the German who lifted the ball over his head and into the corner of the goal. A superb finish and an assist for Elanga, finally.

A win on the road while wearing the green kit

Newcastle added a fourth just before the hour mark with Malick Thiaw once again rising highest in the box to meet a Lewis Hall cross and nodding the ball home.

Everton got a goal back through Kieranan Dewsbury-Hall after seeing one for Thierno Barry chalked off for handball.

All in all, we have absolutely nothing to complain about this week. Eddie Howe played an absolute blinder with his team selection. His decision to play Miley clearly worked, as did the decision to start Anthony Elanga.

Newcastle can now head into the derby without the worry of being winless on the road; they can just focus on the task at hand.

Also, it's got to be worth mentioning that this was a win while wearing green which are as rare as hen's teeth.
