'Sweden needs more': Alexander Isak came in for harsh criticism from home media after Sweden defeated by Luxembourg

Alexander Isak was in action for Sweden last night in the UEFA Nations League where they fell to an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Luxembourg.

Understandably, the Swedish media were less than impressed with their stars after suffering defeat to a Country whose population is only just around twice that of the Metro area of Newcastle.

Newcastle United's main man was handed the captain's armband for the evening which we're sure was a great moment for our number 14.

Unfortunately, as the scoreline suggests, the Toon striker couldn't find the net on the night, and his evening was cut short as he was hooked on the hour mark.

As long as he keeps performing in this kit we don't mind

Alexander Isak was given a score of 2/5 by Fotbollskanlen

It didn't get a whole lot better after the game for Isak with Fotbollskanlen giving the striker a paltry score of 2/5 saying they expect more from their main man.

“Captain for the day and came close to making it 1-0 early. Offered technical brilliance in some isolated actions but overall Sweden needs more from the star.”

It sounds like there were mixed emotions on the night for our cup-winning goalscorer.

He can misfire for Sweden, just come back to Newcastle fit!

What's more important for Newcastle fans, especially after Anthony Gordon's injury news, is that Isak came away from that game unscathed.

He will be in action again on Tuesday when Sweden takes on Northern Ireland, and hopefully, he will fare better on the pitch but come away with no knocks or bruises.

After all, the man has a big party to attend on the following Saturday.
