Newcastle United have finally done some meaningful transfer business - after the UK window has closed.
As reported a couple of days ago, Jamal Lewis was wanted by Sao Paulo in Brazil and yesterday that move was confirmed after the £15 million man spoke to reporters at the airport to confirm the move.
You see players arriving from Brazil to the Premier League but seeing them go the other way is rare, unless they are actually Brazilian and at the tail end of their career.
Details of the move are still scarce, we aren't even sure if it's a permanent switch or a loan deal, but as Lewis is in the last year of his Newcastle contract, it's surely the end of his time at St James' Park.
Speaking to the media (via The Chronicle), Lewis confirmed that he is 'super excited' to get going at his new club.
"I chose Sao Paulo because when my agent came to me with this opportunity, I felt like I couldn't let this go. I felt just really excited to join the three-time world champions and help them push and win cups and try and push up the league as well so I'm super excited.
"I'm super excited to meet all the Sao Paulo fans. I've seen some games and I can't wait to step out on that pitch. That's the most important thing.
"For me, personally, the Premier League is intense, tough, has a lot of quality so hopefully I can bring all of that and my athleticism. I love to run down the wing, the left-hand side of the pitch, and to defend, attack and help score goals, help assists, so hopefully I can help Sao Paulo to do that and contribute."
It had also been suggested over the weekend that Kieran Trippier was heading to Turkey to join Eyupspor and that terms had been agreed.
Those reports initially came out of Turkey and even the Daily Mail ran with it, but shortly after they published it, their very own Craig Hope posted on X that there was no truth to the rumour.
Trippier was on the bench on Sunday against Spurs which all but put an end to that speculation.
